Service Agreement & Terms and Conditions

The health and safety of your pet is our highest priority. Please review our policies regarding your pet’s care, our facility standards, and your responsibilities as a client.

1. Enrollment & Health Requirements

  • Ownership & Age: All pets must have been owned by the client for at least 30 days prior to their first visit. Puppies must be at least four (4) months of age.

  • Vaccinations: Clients must provide written veterinary proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccinations at least 24 hours before arrival.

  • Health Status: Pets must be in good health and free of communicable diseases. If your pet has shown symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, sneezing) within the last 30 days, they will not be admitted.

  • Spay/Neuter: Female dogs currently in heat will not be admitted.

  • Parasites: If fleas or ticks are found upon arrival, Fur Star Resort will treat the pet at the owner’s expense. Please notify us if your pet is already on a preventative plan.

2. Behavioral Assessments & Daycare

  • Introductory Session: All new pets must pass a mandatory behavioral evaluation by our staff before attending daycare.
  • Compatibility: Not all dogs thrive in a group environment. Dogs incompatible with group play will be exercised separately.
  • Re-Evaluation: Any pet that has not visited the resort for six (6) months or longer must be re-evaluated before resuming daycare.

3. Payment & Scheduling

  • Prepayment: All services must be prepaid at the time of booking.

  • Late Checkout: Checkout hours are strictly enforced. Late checkouts are subject to a fee of $25.00 per hour.

  • Attorney Fees: The client is responsible for all attorney fees and expenses incurred by Fur Star Resort in the collection of unpaid debts or enforcement of this contract.

4. Safety & Behavioral Management

  • Disclosure: Clients must disclose if their pet has a history of biting or aggression. Failure to disclose will result in a $25.00 per day surcharge for specialized handling.

  • Liability: If a pet bites, the owner is financially responsible for all medical bills, recovery costs, loss of income, and equipment damage.

  • Destructive Behavior: If a pet causes damage to the facility, it will be moved to specialized accommodations, resulting in a $20.00 per day room upgrade fee.

5. Grooming & Matting Policy

  • Matted Coats: Brushing out tight mats is painful and carries risks (nicks, abrasions, or skin irritation). Heavily matted coats will be shaved at the groomer’s discretion.

  • Inherent Risks: Grooming sharp equipment carries minor risks (nicks or quickened nails), especially with wiggly pets.

  • Muzzling: For the safety of the staff and the pet, we reserve the right to use a muzzle during grooming if necessary.

6. Abandonment & Emergency Care

  • Abandonment: Pets not retrieved within seven (7) days of the scheduled pickup date may be considered abandoned. After reasonable attempts to contact the owner, we may transfer the pet to Animal Control or a licensed welfare organization per NY State/City law.

  • Emergency Medical Care: If an emergency arises and we cannot reach you or your emergency contact, you authorize Fur Star Resort to seek medical treatment. You agree to be responsible for all veterinary and travel expenses.

7. Legal Agreements & Liability

  • Hold Harmless: By signing, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Fur Star Resort, its owners, and employees from any claims, damages, or costs (including attorney fees) resulting from the injury or accidental death of a pet while in our care or thereafter.

  • Photography/Media: The facility utilizes 24-hour audio and video surveillance. Fur Star Resort reserves the right to use any footage or photos of your pet for security, advertising, or social media purposes without compensation.

  • Right of Refusal: Fur Star Resort reserves the right to refuse service to any pet or client at any time.
