Training
Our training programs focus on clear communication, consistency, and long-term behavioral success. All sessions are conducted under the supervision of our professional K9 trainer with over 35 years of experience in canine behavior and obedience.
Programs range from foundational manners to more advanced behavioral work, always tailored to the individual dog.
We emphasize structure, confidence-building, and practical skills that translate to real-life situations.
Meet Our Co-Founder & Head Trainer
Eric “Igor” Chertkov is Co-Founder and Head Trainer of Fur Star Resort, bringing decades of professional experience in dog training, including military, law enforcement, personal protection, and service dogs.
A particularly meaningful part of Eric’s work has been training service dogs for individuals with special needs, with a particular focus on children. This work requires not only technical expertise, but a deep behavioral understanding of dogs and how they integrate into the daily lives of the families who depend on them. It has helped shape his belief that successful training goes far beyond obedience. It is about understanding canine behavior, building trust, establishing clear communication, and creating confidence in both dogs and their handlers.
That philosophy is at the heart of Fur Star Resort. Eric helped create a comprehensive, structured environment where families can rely on one trusted location for daycare, boarding, grooming, and professional training. Across every service, the focus is on consistent standards, safety, structure, and individualized attention based on each dog’s behavioral and personal needs.
Eric is also closely involved in selecting and developing the Fur Star team, ensuring staff members understand canine behavior, proper handling, safety, and the standards expected throughout the facility. His experience therefore extends beyond Fur Star’s training programs and helps shape the approach to care throughout the resort.
With roots in Eastern Europe and an upbringing in Israel, Eric brings an international perspective to canine training and care. His philosophy has been shaped through years of working with dogs, handlers, families, and trainers from a variety of backgrounds.
Committed to continuous growth and the evolution of training methods, Eric continues to study alongside respected master trainers worldwide. For Eric, Fur Star is more than a pet care facility. It is an environment built around understanding dogs, strengthening the relationship between dogs and their owners, and providing professional, consistent care at every level.
Training
Effective dog training begins with understanding behavior, establishing clear communication, and creating consistency between the dog and the owner. At Fur Star Resort, our training programs are designed to strengthen that relationship while developing the skills, responsiveness, and boundaries dogs need to succeed at home and in everyday life.
Our training options range from structured group classes to more intensive Board & Train programs designed to address your dog’s individual needs, current skill level, behavior, and training goals.

Board and Train
Our Board & Train programs provide an intensive, immersive training experience that allows for a level of consistency and reinforcement that can be difficult to achieve through individual training sessions alone. With professional instruction integrated throughout your dog’s stay at Fur Star Resort, training can be reinforced through daily routines, repeated practice, and real-world application based on your dog’s individual goals.
Before recommending a Board & Train plan, you will receive a complimentary evaluation to assess your dog’s current abilities and behavior, understand your goals, and identify the most appropriate training approach. Because every dog is different, the recommended length and pricing are determined following the evaluation.
